CCS: Intellisense (content assist) not working?

Hi,

I'm new in CCS, but it's based on Eclipse IDE which we normally use on other projects. In CCS v7.1.0.00016 I have a big problem with intellisense feature because it doesn't work "as usual".

Here is video demonstrating problem (sorry for wrong CCS7 version number in video):

Usually, when you hit ctrl+space, intellisense autocompletes the name of function and jumps into brackets (where can I write numbers etc..), but CCS intellisense writes name of parameter into brackets and jumps behind the function.

Anyone can help?

Yes I can see the video now.

I gave this a try in my CCSv7.1 and I see the same as you. I also created a standard Eclipse CDT C project and I see the same behaviour as the CCS project.

Do you know the version of Eclipse and CDT that your other Eclipse environment is using?

I believe the issue is related to the one mentioned in the below thread:

So the question now is when we would pick up CDT 9.1. Looking at my CCSv7.2.0 install, I see it still comes with CDT 9.0

Hi John,

actually it's System Workbench for STM32 and it's based on Eclipse CDT v8.8.1.201602051005.

Hi Ki,

Is there any choice, how can I upgrade/downgrade CDT on my own? I really want to work in CCS, but with this bug I can't work effectively.

Which version of CCS is based on 8.x. Eclipse CDT? Maybe this is the way, how can I work with CCS before you release new version.

I don't think you can downgrade the CDT in CCS.

CCSv7.x uses CDT 9.x

CCSv6.x uses CDT 8.x:

As per the CCS Roadmap wiki:

Code Composer Studio v6.0.x is based off Eclipse 4.3 and CDT 8.2, and their applicable service releases.
Code Composer Studio v6.1.0 to 6.1.2 are based off Eclipse 4.4 and CDT 8.3, and their applicable service releases.
Code Composer Studio v6.1.3 and 6.2.0 are based off Eclipse 4.5 and CDT 8.7, and their applicable service releases.

I manually updated my CCSv7.1 install to have CDT 9.2.1 and I can confirm that it also resolves the issue. We will check on when that version will be bundled with CCS.

Jan,

Looks like CCSv7.3.0 which is due out this week has CDT 9.0. Normally we pull a new version of CDT with major versions of CCS, i.e. CCSv8.0 would pick up the latest Eclipse and CDT. We do that as usually Eclipse and CDT schedules are aligned. CDT has moved to more frequent feature releases. With CCSv8.0 we would pick up Eclipse Oxygen and either CDT 9.3 or potentially 9.4.
