CCS: CCS 7.3.0.00019 play button greyed out with Somnium compiler but not GNU

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I'm running CCS V7.3.0.00019 and if I attempt to debug the process completes ie it compiles and downloads to the deveopment unit but the play button its greyed out.

This happens with both the Somnium compilers version GNU v6.4.0.32 (Somnium Technologies Limited) and GNU v6.2.1.16 (Somnium Technologies Limited)

If I switch to the GNU v4.91 (Red Hat) compiler the play button is green and the code runs on my dev board.

I'm using the MSP-FETFlash Emulation Tool, the newer black one.

I don't get any debug visible so does anyone have a solution to this or can someone point me in the right direction for debug files etc

Andy,

Could you take a screen shot of the debug view (top left in CCS). I am wondering if the device is in a running state. i.e. may be trying to run to main but is not getting there and thus the run button is disabled but the pause button should be enabled.

It could be that the watchdog is firing during the run time start up code - see https://e2e.ti.com/support/development_tools/code_composer_studio/f/81/t/479645#pi316318=1

The solution was adding the dispable watch dog code jsut before main.
