RTOS/TCIEVMK2X: RTOS/TCIEVMK2X:

Part Number: TCIEVMK2X

Tool/software: TI-RTOS

Hi,

OS is Ubuntu 14.04LTS 64 bit
CCS version is 6.1.0.00104
Device used is XTCIEVMK2X with on-board XDS200 emulator

I tried to update firmware in XDS200, after this Emulator is not detecting in PC, I tried in different PC still same issue. DS1 led is on and DS2 and DS3 led are off.

Previously emulator was working perfectly during that time DS2 led was on.

Can you please tell how I can overcome this issue?

With regards,

Yashavanth

  • Hi,

    Did you follow this guide:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../XDS200

It states that you should use windows machine to update the firmware.

    Can you check these wikis:
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Debugging_JTAG_Connectivity_Problems
    processors.wiki.ti.com/.../Emulation_FAQ

To see if your problem is listed there.

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi Yordan,

I read all the information in above links I don't think there is solution for my problem,

If i try to connect and launch through CCS using evmk2h-linuxhost.ccxml target configuration, I got following errors.

    Error initializing emulator:
    (Error -2083 @ 0x0)
Unable to communicate with the debug probe. Confirm debug probe configuration and connections, reset the debug probe, and retry the operation.
    (Emulation package 6.0.407.3)

I try to update firmware as it said in "Updating the XDS200 firmware", I got following errors.

    pc2@pc2:~ti/ccsv6/ccs_base/common/uscif/xds2xx$ sudo ./xds2xx_conf update xds2xxu 0 xds200_firmware_v1008.bin
    Error : Failed to open port connection : xds2xxu : 0
    Error : test failed

Note: I can see only 1 led is on(DS1) other two are off(DS2, DS3).

I tried dmesg, device is not even detecting. I tried different PC same result.

Is there any recovery method to overcome this? I think firmware inside xds2xx is corrupted, Because of this device is not detecting.

Please help me to solve this issue, It has become blockage for our project progress.

    With regards,
    Yashavanth

  • Again, did you use WINDOWS machine to update the firmware??
If not then I think you may have bricked JTAG. See the note from the wiki:
"IMPORTANT! Very old firmware releases such as the ones present in Keystone II EVMs (1.0.0.2) are known to have problems updating. In general they work well in Windows, therefore proceed with the update at your own risk as the JTAG debugger may be bricked and only recoverable by returning the board for repair."

    Best Regards,
    Yordan
  • Hi,
I did the update through linux machine.

If debugger is bricked no other way to repair, other than returning?

  • Hi,

    I am afraid so.
