CCS: Why the need to disable anti virus when installing/updating CCSv6

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

I keep getting this message when installing ccs- then when I try to report it cant zip the error log!
No way to use Code composer - no way to Use TI CPUs!

  • Rex,

The image of the error message did not come through. In general CCS will detect if certain anti-virus/security software is running and if so it will recommend that you turn them off. It does this because we have had cases where this software is interfering with the installation of CCS. In most cases you can ignore the warning and install but we show the message so that if there is a problem users will remember the message and try again with the software disabled.

Without knowing what the message you are seeing is I can make a couple of suggested:
    1) Install CCSv8 and not CCSv6. There have been numerous improvements to the installer in that time
    2) Use the offline installer instead of the online installer. The offline installer is less susceptible to these issues.

    Regards,
    John

Many thanks had read that advice, and was using v8 and offline, and had killed all aspects of Windows Defender (a pain!), Malwarebytes, etc.

The system check on the install start page has no mention of virus pgm running, yet I still get this error:

Error deleting Users/............../temp/ccd_79d2eb3-49e1-4d5c-1e645f58fea/ccs_errorcodes.cscv - permission denied.

Cannot the vast resources of TI find a permanent fix against this bug?

    Thanks again - Rex.

  • Hi Rex,

Unfortunately, you're hitting a problem with a space in the user name. Could you please try the following:
Temporarily reset TEMP/TMP environment variable to a directory that you can write to, with no spaces in the path, e.g. c:\temp.
    Run the installer as admin.

This has been fixed in the next release and we're working on making the user experience with the installer better.
    Sorry for the inconvenience.
