CCS/CCSTUDIO-C2000: "java.lang.NullPointerException" when launching the debugger and closing CCS

There was progress!

I deleted the xml file and ran fsclean in a cmd window in the fsclean directory, as seen attached.

Now, I can start up CCS6, use the target configuration launch option, and I get a null exception error (see attached).

However, I am able to connect to target and load or run with symbols as I need.

I've noticed I also get this null exception error when I close CCS6.

So, this error is not preventing debug operation, but something is clearly not right.

I've spent a little time searching, but it is not obvious where this log file is. 

Any advice?

    Ah, the infamous "java.lang.NullPointerException". It could mean anything. To me, it is "I wish CCS had a more useful error message to spit out instead this generic default message".

    The logs would be helpful. See:

    If you don't mind, that would be good to mark it as resolved. We still need to do some more investigations on real root cause but at least you can progress.

    I will split off the new issue into a new thread.

    Here is the Debug Server Log, with a capture of the exception error:

    It shows something about a TargetType exception, near the end?

    Is the Memory Browser view open in CCS when you get these errors?

    Yes it is.
    Closing it just now, caused another null error.

    I've been playing around with it, and I think I only get the error if the Memory Browser is open, on the first launch after starting CC6.

    This might be the same problem as CCS 6.1.1 Memory Browser can open without all toolbar options, for which SDSCM00052465 was raised.

    SDSCM00052465 was reported as fixed in CCS 6.1.2.

    Interesting, it does feel like the same problem.

    Although, I am using CCS 6.1.0.00104, which he claims does not repeat the problem.

    Anyhow, I will just work around the problem for now. We are trying to use a static version of CCS/TI compilers for archival reasons, so I will stick with this until the project lead approves an update.

    According to your installation logs you posted in the other thread, you have CCSv6.1.1.00022
