CCS: Version 8.3

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

Hi,

In this resolved question

(e2e.ti.com/.../491353)

the ECCN for CCS Version 6.1 is given as 3D991.

Is this still correct for the latest Version 8.3?

Thanks,

Toby

  • Toby,

Newer versions of CCS (like 8.3) are released under a TSPA (Technology and Software Publicly Available) compatible license. We include the ECCN in the manifest now to make it easier to find. Here is the manifest for CCSv8.3: software-dl.ti.com/.../Code_Composer_Studio_8.3.0_manifest.html

There is an export section with the ECCN of "Publicly available"

    Regards,
    John
  • Hi John,

thank you very much. I hadn't seen that. Unfortunately, "publicly available" isn't an ECCN as far as I know. It sounds a bit like "Not subject to the regulations", but for that it would need to be open source. The lowest ECCN for proprietary software would be EAR99.

    Thanks,
    Toby
  • Toby,

You are correct that Open Source licences qualify for "not subject to the regulations". The same is true for TSPA compatible licenses.

The same software licensed under our own commercial terms was 3D991.

    John
  • Thank you again. I guess I will inquire with our legal/export control group since I am not familiar with the term "TSPA compatible licenses".
  • Sounds good.  Let me know if they have any questions for our legal team.  If you want to you can send me a private message by clicking on my name.
