CCS: XDS110 Debug Probe

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1310, ENERGYTRACE, LAUNCHXL-CC1312R1, TMDSEMU110-U

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

HI ,

i am running cc1310/2 battery operated project and i would like to measure the current consumption(<mA or even less)

I saw the reference of

which that i want to ask the accurancy is 500na ? right?

And seem if i use CC1310 i need to buy

according to

the accurancy is

and my other question is :

if u buy CC1312, dont i need to buy any extra XDS probe?

thanks

Jeff

  • Jeff,

    according to: www.ti.com/.../spruie1a.pdf

accuracy is 700 nA in range 1-15 uA.

During radio Tx you should expect up 15 mA!

    LaunchXL-CC1312R1 does not have EnergyTrace+/++.
Depending on your needs you may need or not need the XDS110 ETHDR.

    According to M-W:

FYI, the current EnergyTrace hardware are not working as expected as the noise levels is to high. You can read about it here:

  • Jeff,

    Just adding to Tom's reply.

The CC1312R1 has the EnergyTrace HDR built into the Launchpad, but the main limitation when compared to the arrangment TMDSEMU110-U + TMDSEMU110-ETH is the maximum output current - the USB2.0 standard only allows up to 500mA per port, while the TMDSEMU110-ETH can use two USB ports to yield up to 800mA.

Also, as Thomas have mentiond, if your board is the initial revision, there is an outstanding HW bug that increases the noise floor on the EnergyTrace HDR present on the CC1312R1. The latest revision of the Launchpad and the TMDSEMU110-ETH do not have this problem.

The initial revisions of this board have two beefy inductors and an oscillator on its design.

    Hope this helps,

    Rafael
