Hi,

When the source is compiled and built, to push into the EVM, do we need a FET? In an earlier thread (attached), the solution seems to suggest that the new build is pushed into the EVM like a firmware upgrade. Is my understanding correct? Kindly enumerate the steps to push the newly built into the EVM.

Arunkumar,

In case you change the firmware please go to the debug tab in the GUI and in that tab do click the firmware update button in the MSP430 section and follow the instructions that will pop up to flash your new firmware to the MSP430 device.

I am conversant with changing the firmware using the GUI. My question was When the source is compiled and built, to push into the EVM, do we need a FET? How do I push the newly built code into the EVM?

Arunkumar,

For most firmware update for this EVM you should be able to use the present GUI to flash the MCU. You should be able to flash your updated firmware through the USB rather than FET.

Bharat,

I am using CCS, chosen variant as MSP430F5528, Connection selected - TI MSP430 USB1 [Default]. Build is successful, when I click on Debug icon, I am getting an error:

Error initializing emulator:
No USB FET was found

Same result when I select the other options provided for Connection.

Please advise.

Arunkumar,

Please use the MSP430F5529 LP and use the modify the firmware that is available with the GUI for TDC1000-TDC7200EVM.

However if you plan to use any other LP or plan to use a completely your own firmware program then you need a new USB FET .
