Compiler: 4 channel amplifier

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TMS320C6747, TMS320C6748, 66AK2G12

Tool/software: TI C/C++ Compiler

Hi

I would like to design speaker array using 6 or 8 speakers,

What product have 4 channel amplifier, and it also have DSP ?

Regard,

Joan

  • Joan,

    I am not completely sure that I understand your question. If I understand you correctly you are designing a 4 channel amplifier. I am not sure how you plan to use 4 channel output to 6 to 8 speakers. Can you confirm that you are referring to a stereo line as a single channel. Each stereo data has two channels.

    Generally, you can design with any DSP that has I2S input and output for the channel count that you are looking for and then add the amp function on the programmable DSP. you can additionally implement band limiter and equalization if required. We have several DSP that are capable of handling the usecase. You can look at TMS320C6748 or TMS320C6747 for low power DSP operation. For higher performance, you can also leverage 66AK2G12 in your design. All these DSP parts have McASP peripheral to handle multichannel data IO and has sufficient performance for amplifier application.

  • Hi Rahul

    Thank you for your answer.

    As you said, I'm designing a 8 channel amplifier and I want the amplifier have directional effect. Therefore it should have the function of set time delay between each channel. At first, I'm search for TAS3108EVM2 because It have 8 channel and also can set up time delay, but they are not supported now.

    So, I need to combine two development boards which have 4 channel for 8 speaker array. Last month I consult with TI, and they suggest TAS6424Q1, but most important question is, if I want to create the directional effect, I must put my delayed signals into the TDM slots and arrange the slots for the array. But TAS6424Q1 does not have the DSP capability to delay audio. so, I need other product which have 4 channel, and also have DSP capability to delay audio.

    Best regard,

    Joan

  • Hi Rahul,

    So, are there any 4 channel amplifier and also built-in with DSP?
