Hello,

We are currently working on a USB type C based fast charging system design and interfacing TUSB422 with MSP430G2553 to compliant PD for fast charging.

We are successfully able to read and write registers through I2C.

So Is it require to implement USB PD physical layer on software side? or Is it internally handle by TUSB422? and Is attached type-c charger support PD compliant or not and support 5V@3A/9V@2.5A/12V@1.9A and advertisement/negotiation that all functionality access though I2C register?

Hi Bhautik,

The TUSB422 handles the PD PHY, but it requires a host MCU containing USB Type-C Port Management (TCPM). As discussed in this document from USB.org, TCPM includes handling a protocol layer and policy engine.

As mentioned in these similar threads: link1, link2, you can request firmware from the TUSB422 page.

The firmware was not developed for MSP430G2553, but for MSP430FR5969. But I hope you find it useful.
