Pspice for TI couldn't install

Hello,

One customer met a problem when he installed the PSpice for TI, his PC is Win10 professional, but when he double clicked the installation  file, it would clash and quit immediately.

So he couldn't install it completely, could you help to analyze what is the reason?

Best regards

Kailyn

  • Hi Kailyn,

Could you please share your installation log? It is located at: %appdata%\Cadence\PSpiceTIInstall\cdsPspiceTIlog.txt (See more info here)

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • I didn't find the file

  • Hi JX,

Can you share an image of the contents for the folder %appdata%\Cadence\PSpiceTIInstall?

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Hi Jackie, I have the same problem, I think, as Kailyn and also could not find the install log. I've included a screenshot of my PSpiceTIInstall folder. For me when I start the installer I will see a PSpice for TI graphic for a few seconds and then it closes before going any further. A couple of people with me are having the same problem.

  • Hi Cameron,

Are you also using Windows 10? PSpice for TI installation is only supported on Windows 10. Please also check that you do not have any antivirus software preventing PSpice for TI from launching.

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Good Afternoon,

I am using windows 10 and I've checked that I meet the minimum hardware requirements. So far as I'm aware there is no antivirus or similar that would be getting in the way, I've installed other packages from the TI website previously.
One of my colleagues has deleted some cadence files in the registry editor and was able to complete the install afterwards but those files weren't there on my computer.

Thank you for you help, I appreciate there's not much to go on!

  • Hi Cameron,

It is possible that an older version (2-3 yr old) of Cadence Orcad could cause a conflict with PSpice for TI. The newer versions of Cadence Orcad do not cause any issues.

Could you please try the following? It could be a system cryptography settings.
In the past we have seen this type of behavior when these settings are enabled.

    1. Open Windows Control Panel > Administrative tools > Local Security
    Policy.
    2. In the left pane, select Local Policies > Security Options.
    3. Then, in the right pane, select ‘System Cryptography: Use FIPS compliant
algorithms for encryption, hashing and signing’.
    4. Double-click on this and set it to disabled if it is enabled.
    5. Restart the machine and perform installation again.

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Thanks Jackie,

This is a new computer so I've had no previous installation of Orcad. I don't have access to those settings so I'll forward on your suggestion to IT and see if they can implement it for me.

    Thanks again,

    Cameron

  • Hi Cameron,

Best of luck. Please keep me updated on your progress.

    Thank you,

    Jackie

  • Hi Jackie,

I've had some help giving your suggestion a go. We were able to see that the cryptography setting was already disabled. IT was able to run some powershell commands to clean up some files from previous attempted installs and some health commands and several restarts. We tried installing some optional windows updates too. Are there any other possibilities we can explore?

    Thanks,

    Cameron

  • Hi Cameron,

I will send you a friend request for this forum. Then we can communicate privately on the issue. We may need additional information.

    Thank you,

    Jackie
