Anyway, the LED is a diode and what the modeling application gives you is an easier way to create the standard SPICE diode model wrapped as a SUBCKT:

myLed.lib

You can import this file and create a symbol library like this one:

MYLED.OLB

Add this library:

Now you can place the symbol "myLED" and use it in your design:

Add the first file to your sim profile and you should be able to simulate with it:

1) why does TI-PSPICE not have the LED 'Modelling Application' ? and any pre-created pspice schematics with this is no longer supported ?

2) why can we not import non Ti libraries ?  there is no 'import library' button

Hi Robert,

1) PSpice for TI is geared towards simulating TI components so it may not support everything in the full version.

2) you can import LIB files, the menu item is "Tools" > "Generate Part".

Waiting for official TI response, to simulate the very simple circuit using their FETS, and provide a LED model !!!

1) TI has to support LED, what a useless stripped down version of PSPICE if it doesn't support the standard LED model ??

2) Library import does NOT exist,

a) it does not existing under the Library tab (like on the full version)

b) the "Tools" > "Generate Part" is also greyed out (see attached)

 "Tools" > "Generate Part" being greyed out is probably because your mouse is not focused in the project you are working on. Please click anywhere inside the project browser and try again:

I still don't understand why TI cannot add the standard LED model, I can't believe it costs any more in your license to Cadence !

OK, got it working, you ALSO have to add the lib file to the project simulation profile.

the solution shows 0.7V forward voltage.

I looked at the model and i could not see any forward voltage specified ?

I tried to add a row (manually in a text editor as in TI-Pspice, you only get to read the Pspeice, not edit it), and set Vj = 3.4, but this is ignored in the simulation:

For something SO SIMPLE, it should not be this hard to use Psipce.  this stripped down version for TI is really a waste of time...

in TI-Pspice, we do not have access to the 'LED' model under 'Modelling Application' - that's the point !!! its removed and not accessible

i had to use the model that you sent as was the only model that we can use with the TI stripped down version, and the model only has 0.7V Vf, and even if we manually change the model to add Vj=3.4, it ignores it in the simulation !

We need TI to step up here, and give us an update to allow us to use the full 'LED' model in the TI-Pspice license....

PSpice for TI is tailored for TI products so we cannot include everything due to copyright and other concerns. Let me check how the voltage drop is used to see why it was not reflected in the result...

SPICE only has a generic diode model. The LED in SPB is proprietary. I've requested it to be added to PSpice for TI.

I wasted an entire day on this, there is something odd about the TI limited version of Pspice.  I cannot get the VF to show 3.4V.

As I mentioned, The native SPICE diode model does not have a forward voltage parameter.

The LED in SPB is proprietary. I'll let you know once it's available.
