TIDA-010933: Hardware Changes & Custom Part Manufacturing 120V/60Hz

Part Number: TIDA-010933
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: LMG3522R030, LMG2100R044

Tool/software:

I'm adopting the TIDA-010933 design for 120V 60Hz operation and have noted the recommendation to use the LMG3522R030 GaN FET for 120-VAC operation. I have two specific queries:

1. Aside from replacing the GaN FET with the LMG3522R030, are there any other critical hardware changes we need to be aware of to ensure proper functionality for 120V 60Hz?

2. The design includes custom parts like transformer T1 and inductors L9 and L10. Could you please provide detailed specifications for these components, such as:
Turn ratios
Wire diameters
Core materials
Any other relevant details

We need this information so that we can have these components manufactured externally.

Your guidance will be highly appreciated

  • Hi,

yes, if you would like to push the same amount of power you will need to use 26 mOhm devices (LMG3522R030). You will need also to select an inductor with higher saturation current.

You will need to contact Bourns if you would like to have feedback about the transformer and inductor design.

    Thanks

    Best Regards

  • Thanks for the response. For my inverter design, I'll be using panels that only add up to 800W (4 of thesewww.renogy.com/.../ in parallel), instead of the 1.6 kW that this inverter is currently rated at. Would you still recommend updating the saturation current of the inductor? If so, could you provide guidance on how much we should update it?

  • Also, can you suggest an alternative towards the LMG2100R044? I need to buy 42 of these but none are available right now.

  • yes correct, if the power is half and the voltage is half there should not be issues in using the same inductor.

For the component request, I suggest you to submit another ticket.

    Thanks

    BR
