Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
No matter how we try to come at it we cannot get Webench to create an LM5160 based Inverting-Buck-Boost design. On a related note can't seem to get it to generate a fly-buck topology either. For example, if I enter generic design requirements it does not give me a design option that uses the LM5160. If I then check as to why it didn't select the LM5160 this device does not even show up in the list.
Similarly if I try to do it from the LM5160 page the Webench entry does not let me select a negative output. What am I missing? Is the Inverting Buck-boost not supported in Webench for this part? Similar question for fly-buck topology?
The basic requirements are 12V input and -12V @ 500mA output.
Our end goal is to get an export from Webench that we can get into TINA for simulation purposes.
Thank you.
Kurt,
I don't support LM5160 directly, but I can tell you that most converters do not support inverting buck boost in Webench. Furthermore, TINA-TI models typically will not support inverting buck boost either. The internal GND references are hard coded to ground. For inverting buck boost, the GND pins need to be set to "minus Vout". I'll move this to the Webench forum to get their comments. But I am pretty sure my answer reflects the current state.
