Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
The WEBENCH Design tools don't seem to permit creation of an inverting buck-boost circuit using the TPS82140. However the datasheet shows this configuration as an example circuit and the higher current TPS82130 has an eval board and app-note using this configuration.
I exported a standard buck configuration from WEBENCH into TI-Tina and modified it to an inverting buck-boost as per the TPS82130 app note but it doesn't operate as expected, and I'm not sure if this is a problem with the model or my inexperience with TI-Tina. The transient simulation runs but I get no output and a very large current flows from the Vin to ground suggesting the 82140 isn't switching.tps82140_inv_buck_boost.tsc
Hi,
The SPICE model of the IC has GND pin hard coded to '0' node / ground, so you will not be able to simulate IBB configuration using the same model. I am assigning this ticket to the concerned product team so they may provide you with additional info / help if needed.

Hi Srikanth,
Thank you for the reply. Hopefully the model can be revised at some point, but I guess it's back to the soldering iron for now.

Hi Mike,
I've requested the downloadable TINA-TI model from the TPS82140 product folder to be updated to support IBB operation, but it will take several weeks as the modeling team has a queue of requests ahead of this. I would like to mark this thread closed for now, and I will provide an update here once the updated model is available.
Thanks for your patience,
Kris
