TINA/Spice/OPA314: unpowered OpAmp bias measurements differ from TINA simulations

Part Number: OPA314
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI,

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hi,

The requirements are that an unpowered OpAmp should not present a voltage more than ~100mV at the output.

This was shown to be the case in TINA simulations. Nevertheless, in actual lab measurements, the unpowered OpAmp output was about 0.8V.

Is the SPICE model for the OPA314 correct?

Thanks,

Dave

  • Hi Dave,

Thanks for sharing your observation with us.

TI's Spice models are created to demonstrate the devices in their normal operation conditions. As such, only a select set of specs/features are designed into the models and unpowered characteristic typically isn't one of them. This list can usually be found in the model header.
