TINA/Spice/LM3886: LM3886 as current source with asymmetrical supply v+ Max ? 60V

Part Number: LM3886
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI, , TPA3116D2, TPA3126D2

Tool/software: TINA-TI or Spice Models

Hey TI

What is the maximum V+ supply voltage ?   the Tina Ti model seems to be limited at 60V  meaning if I set V+ to 60V the LM3886 output wanted,  see test set-up below

I was looking into if I could be using the LM3886 in a bridged voltage controlled current source with asymmetrical power supplies like
Ex. +60, -15V  on the current controlled Amp
and +15, -60V on the inverted follower amp(mirrow)

in order to source current in loads with a voltage range from -10VDC to around 110VDC

At the moment I am using a single LM3886 in a howland current source design for low voltage loads, and its works nice with a bandwidth over 100KHz for the R+L load range I designed it for.
but I will have to change a few things in order to test the supply voltage range.

Any other TI IC's than the LM3886 you could recommend for the job ?

  • Hi Martin,
The common mode input voltage is 80V and differential input voltage is 60V on LM3886, please find more detailed info in the Table Absolute Maximum Rating in the datasheet. The TINA/SPICE module only simulate the device behavior but not the real performance. This is a very old device and we recommend TPA3116D2 and TPA3126D2 for the new design.
