Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
Hi,
I'm planning on using the above device for a wide range of rails in a new design and have been using Webench to assist with the design. What I have noticed is that the part IRF6609 is suggested for all my rail solutions, yet this part is obsolete.
Why are obsolete parts being suggested? It makes me question the validity of other part suggestions in Webench and significantly detracts from the usefullness of the Webench design tool which is otherwise excellent.
I'd be grateful if you could advise.
In addition, is it possible to add in bespoke parts to the webench design recommendation? For this particular instance I'd wish to replace the suggested obsolete fet with an alternative and confirm performance, but there are no other alternatives offered by the tool.

Hi Chris,
Thank you for letting us know that this FET has been obsolete. We will disable this part from our database. However, you can choose the alternate FET using 'Select Alternate Component' option on WEBENCH as shown below.
1. Click on FET
2.Select Choose Alternate
3. Select the alternate FET from the list.
Please let us know if you are facing any issue. You can share the design using 'Share Design' Option.
