Tool/software: WEBENCH® Design Tools
Hi,
I was running working on a design for a DCDC converter using the TPS565208 with 6-17Vin, 12Vnominal, 3.3Vout, 3A Iout max, and 3% max ripple. When I am simulating the Steady state in both WEBENCH and TINA (using exported design) I am getting different results. I've included screen shots of both simulated results and was wondering if anyone could explain why these results are different.
Thanks
Hi User,
I had simulated steady state test bench in both Webench and TINA exported design(shared in post above) for the condition reported.
Had following observations,
In Webench Vout peak is 3.347V which is slightly less than Vout peak of 3.35V in TINA(as shown in images below) and Vout valley in both TINA and Webench are
matching .
Vout ripple difference between Webench and TINA is approximately 5mV. But the difference mentioned are expected as tools are different.
In this regard could you please let us know the differences observed between TINA and Webench results?
Thanks and Regards,
Umayal
Hi Umayal,
Thanks for getting back to me with this, Your results were similar to mine. The major difference that I notice between he two, is that WEBENCH has a constant value for bot the peaks and valleys while in TINA they vary over time. Do you know what might be causing this difference between the two simulations?
Thanks
Hi User,
We apologize for the delay in response.
We are working to identify the reason for the change in values for both peak and valley in TINA.
We shall keep you updated on the same.
Thanks and Regards,
Umayal
Hi User,
The difference is due to difference in analysis parameters used by both the tools(TINA and Webench).
If we tighten the analysis parameters in TINA ,the accuracy of the TINA results can be improved resulting in results similar to Webench as shown in image
below.
Please find the steps below to modify the default analysis parameters in TINA.
Please the TINA analysis parameters and their modified value below.
Kindly revert back to us on any queries.
Thanks and Regards,
Umayal
