Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TINA-TI
Hi,
I'm trying to re-use a macro symbol I have created in TINA. I have managed to do this successfully by editing the macro .SUBCKT contents directly and pasting in the SPICE subckt definition, then to get the component to be named correctly in the schematic editor I changed the name of the component using the tools>Edit Macro Properties.
This works and simulates correctly. However 2 small issues. There are two parameters of the macro that I can not seem to gain control of. These are 'Shape' and 'Content'. I can edit the text in the 'shape' field, and this is accepted but I have no idea what it actually refers to? The other field 'Content' references a file within a user specific temporary folder under Tina-TI.
eg.
C:\users\aidan\Temp\DesignSoft\{Tina9-TI-03262019-142956}\IPA030N10N3
This file location is greyed out under the edit macro properties dialogue, but editable under the properties option which is presented by right clicking the macro in the schematic (editable but changes are not saved). I have no idea what is in this file, but it seems irrelevant. If I delete the file the macro still works as expected.
I don't wish to be pedantic, but, what is it doing exactly. I'm trying to generate all my macros in a location where they are portable. When I see links to files buried inside a folder related to a particular software revision and still further in a temporary folder it gives cause for concern.
Can anyone explain?
All the best
