CC2640R2F: Received exception from ROV server

Part Number: CC2640R2F

I am trying to investigate memory issues with ROV but when I break the program in a debug session, I am unable to obtain the 'Details' tab info on the 'Task' viewable module in ROV.

Here is an image that depicts this error:

Any ideas on this one?

Thanks,

Dale

  • Hi Dale,

I am not able to see the image you have attached. Can you reply to this message and attempt to re-upload it? Ensure you are not copy-pasting the image into the message, this can lead to this error. Make sure you save the screenshot as a file and upload the file using Insert -> Image. I have a few questions that may help us get to the bottom of this more efficiently. Can you provide us the version of CCS you are using? Which SDK version are you using? Is this a BLE or BLE5 project?

I believe you may find the following section of the Debugging guide useful:

    TI-RTOS Object Viewer

    Best Regards.

  • Hi Jan,

I think I just solved my image uploading problem, do you see it now in post #1 here?

CCS 8.3.1.00004, SimpleLink CC2640F2 SDK 1.40.0.45 and BLE Stack is 3.x

    Not BLE5.

  • Hi Dale,

I am able to see the image now. Can you verify if applying the fix shown in the following link is helpful?

    https://dev.ti.com/tirex/content/simplelink_cc2640r2_sdk_2_30_00_28/docs/blestack/ble_user_guide/html/debugging/ble-index.html#rov-in-ccs

Also, would it be possible to port this project to the latest SDK? The 1.40 SDK is several years old at this point. Many features and bug fixes have been released in the versions released since 1.40.

    Best Regards,

    Jan

  • WOW, that worked, thanks very much Slight smile

Now I can see a stack size issue that could be a problem Slight smile

Also, would it be possible to port this project to the latest SDK? The 1.40 SDK is several years old at this point. Many features and bug fixes have been released in the versions released since 1.40.

We originally ported the code to CC2640R2F SDKv4.40 but we were not able to get the ported code functioning.

One of our team members had a lot more luck porting larger projects to 1.40 SDK so we tried that and we are much closer to success as you will see in the other current forum topic of mine that you have assigned an expert to.

Perhaps we can discuss in that topic, this newly discovered stack 'stackPeak' problem we have found in the image above Slight smile

It is interesting to note that with your fix applied, all the heap metrics expressions are no longer 'identifier not found...' when I Pause the code during a debug session.
