CC2652R: Inquiry about the number of packets per connection interval

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: SYSCONFIG

Hi Experts.

I received some questions about maximum number of packets per connection interval.

  1. Customer understands the number of packets is determined by the firmware on master side. They want to clarify it. Is that correct?
  2. if it is correct and master is CC2652R,  does TI’s firmware determine maximum number of packets per connection interval ?

I believe both is correct, however,  I need expert’s advice on them. Can I have your comments on them, please?

Best regards,

Miyazaki

  • Hi Miyazaki,

The amount of packets able to be sent in a connection interval depends on the Max Number of PDUs set. Both the central and peripheral devices have an effect on how many packets can be sent. There is no strict limit to how many packets can be sent it mainly depends on how the previously mentioned parameter is configured in SysConfig.

The Throughput Example (Central | Peripheral)  on GitHub provides documentation that details how the example is able to send many packets in one connection interval. I would highly recommend referencing the example if the customer is interested in implementing notification streaming or they want to maximize packet throughput. I would also recommend looking at the Connection Parameters, GAP Connection State, and the Link Layer Buffers

    Best Regards,
