Hi Team,

A customer claims that the flash memory is incorrectly defined in the CC2652R7 projects such as ProjectZero.

The map file is reporting a flash start address of 0x0000 000d and a length of 0x000a e0d0. This puts the end of flash at 0x000a e1a0. There are 0x0000 1e60 bytes still available at the end of flash that could be used (sector 0x57: 0x000a e000 to 0x000a ffff, 8,192 bytes).

The customer is asking how to change the end of flash memory to be 0x000a ffff (i.e. change the length of the flash to 0x000a ff30)? Project Properties? Linker File? Syscfg system?

Hi Marvin,

The last flash page is defined as RESERVED_FLASH_SIZE and subtracted from the FLASH total as seen the the command linker configuration (*.cmd) file. This allows for FLASH_LAST_PAGE to contain the CCFG and optional application functionality such as the BIM for on/off-chip OAD. If not using the BIM then the *.cmd SECTIONS should allow for code to be placed inside FLASH or FLASH_LAST_PAGE, thus the customer is not blocked from using the last page of flash for their application purposes. No changes should be required from their project settings.

They should not implement this method as it could overwrite the BIM and corrupt the CCFG. NUM_RESERVED_FLASH_PAGES needs to be preserved. They should be Creating a Production Image as described in Task 3 of the BLE Enhanced OAD Advanced SimpleLink Academy Lab and OAD Section of the BLE5-Stack User's Guide.

Hi Ryan,

Should designers want to include a BIM in their production image so that TWO sessions of UniFlash are not required, then the .CMD file must allow access to the last flash page. Is there a way to do this?

You mentioned to not implement setting NUM_RESERVED_FLASH_PAGES to 0. can you recommend an alternate solution for allowing the last flash page to be loaded with a BIM along with the application image. Doesn't make any sense.

For now, since using RESERVED_FLASH_PAGES set to 0 allows the customer to load their application and BIM, and the application runs, They will continue to use 0 for this.

SRecord software is recommended for combining images, this is explained in the BLE Enhanced OAD Advanced SimpleLink Academy Lab.
