Hi,

I am planning to do a design with CC2541 with CC2590 extender solution. Is there any reference kit available for this? Any built-in module is available?

What is the cost?

Or can someone suggest any other design module other than CC2541? My requirement is Bluetooth with long range (+500 meters).

Hi Vipin,

We have a reference design and an application note on how to use CC2590 with CC2541:

500 meters is probably a bit far though, even when using the CC2590.

An alternative is to look into the CC2640R2F instead, which will soon support the new long range feature in Bluetooth 5. See the sticky posts at the top of the forum for details.

Hi Fredrik,

What is the range which CC2640R2F wireless MCU Launchpad supports? The datasheet of CC2640R2F is not talking anything about range/distance which the chip can support.

I am planning to buy the kit. So thought of checking before going for it.

Hi Vipin,

Range is dependent on several external factors such as PCB design, antenna, environment, and so on. The datasheet can thus only refer to the actual RF performance of the device.

For range estimations you can refer to the spreadsheet calculator which is linked to at the top of the forum.

Hi Vipin,

Did you take a look at the calculator? It also depends a lot on your environment. You should easily get 100 m outdoors with the CC2640R2 LaunchPads.
