CC2652R: Difference between RF design of CC2650 and CC2652

Part Number: CC2652R
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

Hi,

I have design RF Section of my PCB for CC26x2 devices as per CC2652 launch pad design.

Below is RF design as per new launchpad design.

RF design as per CC2650 Launch pad

My question is on new pcb can I use CC2650 and CC2652 interchangeably? Will difference in their RF End cause any problem in performance? If yes is there way to change capacitor and inductor value to compensate for performance issue? Don't have change value of crystal from 48 MHz to 24 MHz as both has same footprint.

Thanks

  • This app note: www.ti.com/.../swra582.pdf covers the migration from CC26x0 to CC26x2.
  • Yeah I have read this earlier and as per that I can use both ICs interchangably. I have observed different RF design between Older Launchpad and Newer version and had doubt about difference making any impact.
  • The two designs are equivalent. In the earliest designs the DC block caps were placed close to the RF pins, in the newer ones the DC block is moved toward the antenna and in the balun.

For CC13xx and the CC26xx with 4x4 and 5x5 where external bias can be used the new topology makes it easier to connect the RXTX pin.
