LAUNCHXL-CC2650: CC2650 Launchpad External Antenna

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC2650
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC2650

I have a CC2650 LaunchPad development kit, and I'd like to hook up an external antenna to the JSC connector.  What exactly needs to be soldered to make this happen? The quick start guide says to "solder one resistor here to use external antenna", but that is a Revision 1.0 device and mine is Revision 1.3, and it also isn't exactly clear what "here" means.

Do I simply remove the C24 capacitor and solder it in the place for C58? Do I need to do the same thing with the C51 and C15 capacitors?

  • Hi Kevin,

To connect the JSC connector instead of the antenna you have to change the orientation of C24. There is a design error in the LaunchPad which requires you to mount it diagonally so that the balun output is connected to the trace going to the JSC connector.

    Cheers,
    Fredrik
