Hi, I have the same issue. We just purchase and received a new Wireless Connectivity Development kit based on the CC2540 and CC2541 but nothing works. The driver keeps loading as a Cebal driver and no COM ports are available. BTool this does not find any devices. Any help would be much appreciated.

To work with BTool, you need to run HostTest on your CC2540 USB dongle. I attach CC2540 USB dongle HostTest FW for your reference.

Thanks for the prompt reply. I am not really sure what how to upgrade the firmware.

Also, we just purchase this kit brand new and we are running Windows 10 64 bit which is the standard setup.

Why do we need to upgrade the firmware. Does the cc2540 module not run out of the box? Was this product not tested before it left the Texas factory?

I think CC2540EMK-USB is preloaded with sniffer firmware not HostTest. To download HostTest, you need to buy CC-DEBUGGER to do firmware upload.

Thanks Siri. We actually up purchased this kit: CC2541DK-MINI I have no idea what firmware is in the USB dongle - it would be good to know this before upgrading the firmware.

In the Quick start guide, it says to just install the driver and does not say to upgrade the firmware. It appears that there may not be a driver for Windows 10. Can you advise? Thanks

Thanks YiKai Chen, I did upgrade the driver but still no COM port can be seen. I am trying to follow the quick start guide which I have copied below. I cannot get past section 2.2

Thanks for the reply. We did not purchase CC2540EMK as explained before. Below is the firmware on the dongle. The quick start does not say to upgrade the firmware. Thanks

I think you should try to download Hosttest to your CC2540 dongle.

Thanks YK Chen, I did manage to reprogram the USB dongle using Smart RF programmer. I think the Quick Guide needs a document update.

With the Quick Guide, I am now up to section 2.5. I can Establish a connection, and read characteristic 0x0059 as ASCII Key Press State. I cannot write 01:00 to it. Do we also need to upgrade the keyfob firmware? Thanks
