CCS/CC2652R: Can we change CTE frame interval less than 100ms (ex: 10ms or 20ms)

Part Number: CC2652R

Tool/software: Code Composer Studio

The min CTE interval  is 100ms, can we set it to 10ms or 20 ms

  • Hi,

From a spec point of view, you can have a CTE at the end of each connection packet. The minimum connection interval is 7.5ms. So you could send a CTE at the end of each connection packet, i.e. with 7.5ms of interval.

However you have to consider other elements too:

    • the time required to set-up the passive device.
In the current example, the connection parameters are transferred from the master to the passive via the PC. This introduces a non-fix and non-negligible delay. As a result, we cannot exactly know how much connection events have been missed by the passive (Two remarks: 1) Yes, this happens only once, at the connection establishment but this step is absolutely required 2) the longer the connection interval, the easier it is to roughly estimate the number of  connection missed by the passive)
    • the power consumption
With a smaller connection interval, the power consumption increases.
    • the time to process the data
Is the device able to treat the IQ data within the interval chosen?
    • the improvement brought
Do you think the precision of the system will be increased by increasing the frequency of the measurements? (I have no good answer here - it depends on the characteristics of your system).

    I hope this will help,

    Best regards,
