CC2564MODN: Bluetooth Stack for CC2564 interface with MSP430F6779

I need msp430 interfaced with the CC2564 controller instead of connecting it separately from other board.

Hi Justin,

The BT-MSPAUDSOURCE is more of a demo platform, unless you specifically only want to use the CC2564 for audio profiles. The EVM board previously suggested connects to a MSP430 board, but that will allow you to use all of the GPIOs and other peripherals of the MSP430. So it's more suited for a general-purpose development platform.

Can you please point me to source examples using the above MSP430 chip?

Also can you please advice me the development boards that I can use?

Hi Justin,

The MSP430-based Bluetopia SDK is built for the F5438 and F5529 devices by default. If you want to use it with your board, then it should be possible, but it will require you to modify the HAL.c/h and HRDWCFG.h files to suit your hardware. Once you change the HAL files so that they are using the correct registers for your device, then you should be able to use the rest of the code as-is. Ideally, you would use the hardware setup described in the quick start guide: https://www.ti.com/lit/swru436

So, you would use the https://www.ti.com/tool/MSP-EXP430F5438 as well as the https://www.ti.com/tool/CC2564MODNEM

I am porting the hardware to MSP430F6779A but however I am getting BTPS_ERROR_HCI_INITIALIZATION_ERROR at function BSC_Initialize(HCI_DriverInformation, 0);

I have raised separate ticked for the same and will mark this one as resolved.

Have you checked your jumper settings on your MSP430 board? The readme has documentation on the correct settings to run the demo applications.

I am sorry about the other thread. I will make sure to use this thread going forward. I did connect jumpers as per the readme documentation.

I have connected logic analyzer to the pins and could see transactions on RX, TX pins. I am running SSPLEDemo example.

Hi Justin,

I unfortunately do not have an MSP430 + CC2564 setup at the moment, so I cannot completely double-check the instructions and guide you through getting the demos running.

That being said, there are some instructions in addition to those on the wiki, in some wiki documentation that has since been taken offline. I've uploaded a backup copy here:

In particular, one step jumps out - did you add the #define __SUPPORT_CC256XB_PATCH__ to ensure that the CC2564B patch files are included? The CC2564MODN internally uses a CC2564B device, and so specifying that patch is needed.

I did add the patch but still I am not able to succeed. I have  connected FW logger to BT debug pin of CC2564

Attached is the logger data. I see that UART communication is fine and there are HCI events between Host and controllers.

Can you please take a look at log and see if you can find anything obvious?

I couldn't upload *.lgr file so changed the extension in attachment to *.c. Please revert back to lgr when you want to use with TI Logger tool

Thanks for providing the log files.

It looks like the device init fails at at the VS_LE_Enable command. Did you update the CC256XB.h file with the binary patches, or is it still the default?

I just got access to a MSP430 + CC2564B setup, so I'll be testing that today to see if I can get you some more detailed instructions on getting started with the MSP430 BT demos.
