RF430FRL152HEVM: MSP430G2553

Part Number: RF430FRL152HEVM
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TRF7970A, RF430FRL152H

Hello!

I have one technical related question. Why we need external MSP430 microcontroller to make I2C interface and program the  external sensors in RF430FRL152HEVM??

Here i found on datasheet

Required Additional Tools • RF430FRL152HEVM Windows GUI

• TRF7970A-BNDL: MSP-EXP430G2 LaunchPad development kit with TRF7970A BoosterPack plug-in module to communicate with the RF430FRL152HEVM

OR • TRF7970AEVM (no longer available for purchase from TI)

I want to use NFC phone and transmit the NFC energy to NFC transponder only.(RF430FRL152HEVM )

Why i need boosterpack and MSP430G2 launch pad. I can connect my external sensor to NFC transponder directly and then transmit back to NFC phone.

Kind regards,

Ali

  • Hello Syed,

You can use your phone instead of the BoosterPack+LaunchPad NFC reader combo.

The MSP430+TRF7970A are required to use the RF430FRL152HEVM GUI, not for general device usage of the RF430FRL152H. It's recommended to learn how the device operates and develop functionality for supporting new sensors with the GUI as it gives you access to a large amount of settings, but you don't HAVE to do it that way. The GUI just makes it easier.
