I am currently finalizing my current design. My device is a wearable device using the CC115L at the 433MHz frequency. My question is about the FCC certification, which is needed for my device. What is the maximum output power that can receive FCC certification? What are the testing conditions? Does the output power of the RF IC output matter, or is it the antenna?

Hi Babak,
The 433 MHz band is not available in US as far as I know. It is only for Europe and some other countries. In US they use 915 MHz band and the maximum output power is 27 dBm. When certifying a device, various parameters are measured, including harmonics, antenna gain, OCW (Occupied Channel Width), and other relevant factors.

Thanks for your response, but I have double-checked the US legal frequencies, and we are free to use frequencies between 420MHz and 450MHz in the US. Additionally, there are a bunch of 433MHz devices with FCC certification in the market as well!

We do not have any prior experience with 433 MHz band in the US. Please consult a test house on what is parameters are tested and their limits.

I dig up some more and found out the CC112x/CC1175 and CC120x devices should be compatible with FCC part 90 mask D at 460 MHz band. This is a narrowband frequency band which is from 450 MHz to 470 MHz. I believe that the maximum output power for this band is 2 W.
We do not have any EVMs that is certified for this band.
