CC1101 and CC Debugger

Hi,

Can anyone help me out as I am new to RF comms. I have a CC1101 433Mhz RF module, a CC debugger tool and Smart RF studio 7 installed on my PC. Connections as follows:

CC debugger pin	RFmodule
1 Gd	Gd
2 VDD	3.3V
3 DC	GD02 with 4k7 pull down
4 DD	GD00
5 Csn	Csn
6 Sclk	Sclk
7 Reset 43k pullup	n/c
8 MOSI	MOSI
9 3.3v from debugger	linked to Vdd- power taken from cc debugger
10 MISO	MISO

When I hook everything up and run Smart RF studio I can see the CC debugger is connected and I have updated the firmware but the legend says "no chip" and there is a red light on the debugger.

If I can get the debugger to see the RF module it would be a start- can anyone give me any pointers please?

Thanks. It doesn't make any specfic reference to the CC1101 transceiver- does section 6.3.1 also apply to the CC1101 or only the CC2520? I have read other forum posts here that suggest that what I am attempting is possible but these do not provide any level of detail. Can you direct me to any documents or posts that refer specifically to the CC1101, the CCdebugger and Smart RF studio 7 that include schematics or connection diagrams? I have googled and come up with nothing so is it that I am just trying to do something which is not possible or that I am doing it wrong?!

I have a similar problem with cc1101, the led on the debugger is green but Smart RF studio 7.2.3.0 is giving me "no chip". I've checked all the connections and they are in accordance with the connection diagram in the CC debugger user guide for cc110x chips. By the way the diagram doesn't have any pull resistors.

Hi Aleksey,

Do you have a smartFR flash programmer installed on your PC, if yes, could you run it and see whether cc1101 is detected.

Hi Igor,

Just tried the SmartRF flash programmer and it doesn't detect the cc1101 chip. In my understanding the the Smart RF flash programmer only supports SoC chips, and cc1101 is not a SoC and is not programmable.

For CC1101 use SmartRF Studio together with CCDebugger. It is correct what you say, CC1101 doesn't have a flash.

Could you post a picture that clearly show ALL connections to your CCC1101 board from the CCDebugger? Maybe it's possible to see why you have problems. Check that the RBIAS pin is 1.25 V and the DCOUPL pin is 1.8 V since if this is not the case nothing will work as planned.

This was my mistake, I haven't connected pin 2 of CC debugger to VDD.
