Where's the driver for the CC2531 USB dongle? The documentation states to point ot the usb_cdc_driver_ccxxxx.inf. However only the 2511 and 2510 version seem to be available int the USB Firmware Library with software examples Rev C. The PID is different 0x16A8 (CC2531 rf modem example) and so the CC2511 driver will not work as it states 0x16A4 in the .inf. I previously loaded the dongle with the RF_modem.hex file from the CC2531 directory

You can download the packet sniffer for SMART RF, the driver of CC2531 USB dongle will be automatically installed.

I think original post had the driver association file for the CDC-ACM USB firmware example in mind (swrc088), and not the packet sniffer firmware :-)

You are right -- an .inf file for one of the CC2531 USB examples were missing from swrc088c.zip, but it has now been fixed. Please see this other thread http://e2e.ti.com/forums/t/6316.aspx for more details.

There is nothing wrong with your browser. TI restructed their forum a while ago, which unfortunately caused old URLs to break. The new/correct URL to the thread I was talking about is now: http://e2e.ti.com/support/low_power_rf/f/156/t/16489.aspx

However, this was about a .inf driver file for a USB CDC example which was previously missing in a zip file (the zip has been updated with the missing file). Note that this has nothing to do with the packet sniffer.

Hi,

The document "CC2531EMK Quick Start Guide" swra276.pdf tell that we must install the packet sniffer to install the CC2531 Dongle driver. This does not work with the Packet Sniffer version 2.12.3. So the documention is erroneous.

We must download and extract CC USB Firmware Library and Examples (Rev. C) at http://focus.ti.com/docs/toolsw/folders/print/cc2531emk.html#Support%20Software.

Hi ,

Another effective way to do that. Download CC USB Firmware Library and Examples (Rev. C) . Unzip it wherever you want. Insert the Dongle. Right click on my computer->manage->device Manager here u can find TI CC2531 USB CDC , double click it -> update driver-> brows the location where u have unzipped CC USB Firmware Library and Examples (Rev. C) , inside that there will be a driver folder , point to that folder then click next. And it is done.

Hi, I have tried to install the drivers this way with several *.inf, all of them supposed to be for the CC2531 usb dongle, included the one provided here. None of the have worked. I'm using windows vista and also on a XP didn't work either.

I have also tried by installing the SmartRF and it install some drivers but the CC2531.

On the XP it installs the usb as a CEBAL controlled device.

Any help about it?

I have flashed my device with a CC Debugger and SmartRF programmer to update the firmware (ZLL remote controller example) and after that, the drivers worked properly, perhaps the previous version of the firmware was the problem (which I don't know what it was).
