CC1120DK: Anyway to test CC1120 and CC1190 with this DK

Part Number: CC1120DK

Hello team,

Happy Friday.

Customer is working on CC1120DK

The question is does a CC1120 + CC1190 EM exist?

Customer would love to see what kind of indoor range they can get with the CC1190 added on.

This is urgent as they need to make a decision soon on whether to add the CC1190 into the design or not.

What is the recommendation?

  • Where are your customer based? I think we have some CC1120+CC1190 915 MHz boards left.
  • Thank you for the response.
    Customer is based in Florida.
Please contact me via r-kalsi@ti.com and I will share the address.
  • Do you have two more boards left? We are interested in range performance testing, we are situated in the Netherlands.
    Thanks in advance.
  • We are unfortunately not allowed to ship boards that are not CE marked to EU. But you can get www.ti.com/.../boostxl-cc1120-90. This is a board mainly for 915 MHz but it's possible to change to 869 MHz operation by adding a few components. See the schematic to see what has to be changed.
  • Thank you for your quick reply. Four remaining questions:
1 Is there also a whip antenna version of this board?
2 What is the maximum expected range for LOS with PCB antenna?
3 Does the antenna used correspond to any of the antenna's in the DK2 kit? (This is the antenna development Kit TI offers)
4 Is there an error-rate test program available for the recommended launchpad and do you have a link? So I can do range tests quickly?

    Thanks in advance
  • 1) The board has an connector you can use for an external antenna.
    2) You can use e2e.ti.com/.../375556 to estimate range.
    3) Board #6
    4) You can use SmartRF Studio directly with this board (no LP required)
