CC1101: Encoding supported

Hi,

I am using CC1101 on my custom board.

My customer wants to connect FXTH871xD or similar Tire Pressure Monitor Sensor (TPMS) sensor with CC1101 chip. See sensor datasheet below.

Above sensor support OOK & FSK modulation & Manchester, Bi-Phase or NRZ data encoding.

As per datasheet, CC1101 support OOK & FSK modulation. Does it support Manchester, Bi-phase or NRZ data encoding? If yes, Can you point me out in CC1101 datasheet?

Can I interface & communicate to above freescale sensors with CC1101 radio?

Ritesh,

No, our device does not support modes not in the datasheet. The way to accomplish what you want is to have the CC1101 just receive the packet as is and they you perform the decoding on an external MCU. We do not have examples for this, but it should be pretty straightforward.

Thanks for the quick response.

You mean let cc1101 just receive packets & send to the host, processor/controller over SPI interface. Then the host can decode the packets, Is it?

Also the datasheet says that the data stream can be Manchester coded by the modulator and decoded by the demodulator by MDMCFG2 register setting.

Manchester coding is not supported when using the FEC/Interleaver option or MSK and 4-FSK modulation.

But with OOK/2-FSK modulation, we can use Manchester decoding, correct?

What i understand is, Manchester encoded & OOK/FSK modulated data received from TPMS Sensor can be demodulated using OOK/FSK and decoded by enabling Manchester decoding.

Correct me if i am wrong.

Would appreciate your earliest response.
