LAUNCHXL-CC1350: LAUNCHXL-CC1350

Part Number: LAUNCHXL-CC1350
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: CC1350, CC1310

We are implementing Trackers system for tracking Pets, Vehicles,  Individuals with mental disability by developing
battery operated small module using CC1310 / CC1350.  As claimed  in TI's  technical documents that one can go
up to 20KM using Sub 1-GHz communication in CC1310 and/or CC1350 devices.  We have Transmit/Receive CC1350 EVMs and
have tried to perform simple low data rate communication and we  can not go over 200 feet in city area. The city
area has houses and gardens but no cement concrete  structures.  We need to get some help in implementing
long range communication (low data rate) in environment like multi storied parking lots  in shopping  malls, Out doors
open ground , etc. Please contact me or provide me contact  information for application engineers for CC1310/CC1350.

Thanks,

  • I would recommend using the excel sheet found here: e2e.ti.com/.../375556 to do range estimations.

20 km is line of sight where one end of the link is high above the ground.

What is the background noise where you do your testing? (Set one unit in cont RX without any know TX turned on and read the RSSI). We have seen that some location has a very high noise floor that will impact the range. You can fill in the noise floor in the excel sheet and see the impact.
