Hi,

This is Mario. We have been working with LPSTK-CC1352R for several months and we are now trying to implement node-to-node communication. Previously, we worked with the provided collector and sensor examples but this only allow us to build a star topology for the network. The idea is to implement a topology so that it is possible to propagate data transmissions between sensors and, then, increase range without need of placing several collectors. The idea is to build a chain of sensors that propagates the data packets. Do you have any material related with this? Could you provide any indication about how to develop this functionality?

Hi Mario,

It sounds like you want to implement a mesh network.

For the 2.4 GHz band we have several mesh solutions available. I would recommend checking out Zigbee and Thread protocols.

Hi Marie, we are more interested on the Sub-1 GHz band. Do you have any example available for testing Wi-SUN with CC1352R? I was not able to find it in Resource Explorer of CCS.

Okay, thank you. When do you plan to release the first code examples for evaluation? Do you have any information about standby current consumption of the nodes?

Hi Mario,

I can't tell you anything about the release schedule since it's not public yet. If you sign up on the e-mail list I linked you will be the first to know.

Regarding power consumption I can't give you a specific number, but WI-SUN FAN 1.0 is not written with battery powered nodes in mind. Meaning, nodes will not be able to go to standby.

For battery powered nodes I'm not sure if I would recommend mesh.

Hi Marie, thanks for your quick response. Okay, I will sign up to it. However, I am not sure if we will be able to use it, we work with battery-powered nodes and power consumption is critical. We were looking for an alternative to star network with node-to-node communication in order to avoid having to use multiple collectors and extend the distance between the nodes of the network. Do you recommend a different solution?

We did some research and we think that a possible solution to extend range might be the use of repeaters. Our situation is similar to the one in this post here. In the mentioned post it is said that it is possible to implement repeaters but we cannot find the details about it. Could you confirm whether this is possible? If yes, could you give us some advice about where to start?
