CC3135: About CC3135 sevipack and inyterface

The CC3135 uses a plugin on top of a base SDK, in this case it is MSP432.

You can find the plugin here https://www.ti.com/tool/SIMPLELINK-SDK-WIFI-PLUGIN , however, please note it is relatively old as TI no longer publish plugins.

But, you can start with it.

In this plugin, you will be able to find under simplelink_sdk_wifi_plugin_4_20_00_10\examples\rtos, the set of supported platforms and their relevant examples.

Generally, it is possible to use UART instead of SPI, it is just that the baud rate is much lower (921600bps compared to 20M).

All examples use SPI interface but you can try and enable UART instead. What you would need to do is to open user.h which is the porting file, and replace all the SPI related initializations into UART (all the sl_Ifxxx APIs).

Unfortunately, there is no implementation for UART in this SDK.

Please could you guide me to solve it? We have some boards already manufactured and the connection between the MSP432 and CC3135 is by UART.

I have modified the user.h file, however I have this problem:

In the SDK structure configuration I don't see choice to indicate to use a UART object (check the image). How can I solve this point?

Unfortunately we do not have a UART example in this old SDK so I cannot contribute much.

What is needed include:

• change user.h header to point to UART implementation instead of SPI
• change the location you pointed in ti_drivers_config.c to include UART
• add UART implementation of the API in user.h for the uart (uart_open(), uart_close(), uart_read() and uart_write())

Not sure I can help further on this one.

BTW, on first generation (cc3100) we had examples on the SDK for UART (connecting to an older family of MSP430).

Maybe you can use as a reference.

Hi,

This is old but this is the newest there is. The SDK plugin was ended few years ago so it is not maintained anymore.

I can try and see if it was addressed in the past (internally) and if I find something, I would share.
