WL1831MOD: WL1838MOD Power Down Sequence

Part Number: WL1831MOD
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: WL1831

Customer is violating WL1831MOD power down sequence.  WL_EN and BT_EN are high when power down starts.  See excerpt from data sheet and scope plot attached.

What type of damage would you expect for this case?

Would we see a catastrophic failure, degradation in performance, a loss of Wifi, but not BT, etc?

Please advise.

Thanks,
Mark

  • Hi Mark,

As Rizwan has explained in the relevant e2e post above, the WL_EN and BT_EN pins are not failsafe. So starting the power-down when the enable pins have voltage on it can cause the catastrophic failure. Worst case, both BT and WiFi functionality can be lost because of this kind of failure.

Please ensure that the power down timings requirements explained in the datasheet are met.

    Best regards,
    Vihang
