Hi,

Is there any document related practically achievable range with WiLink modules?

I am planning to use WL1837 with Sitara processor in one of our application where I am supposed to transmit HD video to the distance of 6km at least (point to point). But I am not sure which module should I select to achieve this.

You mean 6km, point to point? You probably need to look at Cellular networks.

Check Wikipedia or WiFi specs for expected ranges

There are some products which allow the wide variety of ranges apart from the range specified in the link mentioned above.

Pls refer the link below, I have tested this module for 2km of distance (outdoor) LOS.

If I am not wrong, What I need is power amplifier at the transmitter and higher gain antenna. But is it the correct way to do it? will WiLink support it?

Hi Deepti,
It is not possible to achieve 6km range using 802.11s on WiLink8. We support max 6 hops and even if we max out distance b/w nodes on each hop , 6km is not achievable. Also, WiLink8 has integrated PA and does not support external PA. I would suggest maybe looking into TI sub 1 GHz products , but they don't support IEEE 802.11

I was looking for the Wilink solution as per the application note: http://www.ti.com/lit/wp/spry301/spry301.pdf

Generally, this kind of application needs 5-6 km LOS range and application note suggests the use of WL1837.
