CC3220: Provisioning in CC3220

Part Number: CC3220

HI,

I am new to this Wifi controllers, I have gone through some of the documents related to CC3220. I have one doubt related to Provisioning. In documents it is mentioned that you can configure the device from Simplelink app by using special provisioning method. My question is how we will send the network credentials to the device , in which packet format we will send , because the device is not connected to any network and we don/'t have any information related to the device also. What is the packet that we will send to the device, can anyone explain in detailed about this provisioning method.

Best Regards,

Ganesh

  • Hi Ganesh,

For AP and SmartConfig Provisioning flow from the device side, please see the Wi-Fi Provisioning SimpleLink Academy: dev.ti.com/.../

For an explanation from the mobile application side, please see the Provisioning for Mobile Applications App Note: http://www.ti.com/lit/swru472

    Best regards,

  • Hi Sarah,

In the documents actually it is mentioned how to configure using app but I want to understand how from app we can send the configuration to the device in provisioning, as the device is not connected to any network, by which frame you are sending the data to the board I want to understand.

Also I have another question, in provisioning we will get the configuration like network credentials like SSID and password. In applications we are getting the events like it got configuration, is it possible to get the SSID and password details also to the application? Can I access the configurations present from main application?

    Best Regards,

    Ganesh

  • I want to understand the driver details that is not mentioned in the document.
  • Hi Ganesh,

The Provisioning app note discusses the HTTP APIs that you use to set a profile (adding the SSID and password). Once the profile is set up and stored by the NWP, you cannot access the password for security reasons, so you would not be able to send that data back to the app.

The source for the mobile application is also available which would show you exactly what you need to send to the CC3220 for provisioning: www.ti.com/.../wifistarterpro
