CC3235S: the full duplex feature in the 802.11 n WiFi standard supported by the board

I want to make 2 CC3235S boards communicate with each others using WiFi P2P mode and I succeeded in this, my question now is one of the standards that are supported in CC3235S is 802.11 n which has a full-duplex feature, so how can I configure the WiFi to use this specific standard, not the other supported ones?

Hi Nada,

802.11 is half-duplex.

I'm not sure what is the feature you are reffing but it is not supported.

802.11 has several variants like 802.11 a, 802.11 b, 802.11 g, 802.11 n. All of the variants of 802.11 standard are half duplex except 802.11 n is full duplex and 802.11 n is supported in cc3235S

Hi,

IEEE 802.11n is definitely not a full duplex. None of Wifi standard is a full duplex.

The 802.11n is half duplex as well.

All our devices supports the 11n spec.

If you refer to a specific feature of the 11n as full-duplex, please explain which one so i can confirm our support.

1. table 2 page 4 in the attached document says that 802.11n is full duplex.

2. what is the frequency band that the WiFi operates in while I am using it in P2P mode?

3. Can I configure the WiFi to use one of the available 802.11 standard variants? if not what is the 802.11 standard variant that it is set to use in whether P2P mode or STA mode?

1. 802.11n is half-duplex. There might be a theoretical/experimental claim the the radio can support full duplex, but this is not used in practice.

2. The P2P discovery phase is being done in the 2.4 band (channels 1, 6, 11). The (operational) connection itself can be selected in either the 2.4G or 5G channel.

3. You can disable/enable certain features that sometime reflects to a standard variant (e.g. you can disable use of 5G, which is the equivalent of disabling 11a) - see sl_WlanSet for the full list of options.

Check the datasheet (https://www.ti.com/lit/ds/symlink/cc3235s.pdf) for all the wifi standard that are supported.

1. Is there a reference that says that 802.11 n iz half duplex as I couldn't find any reference that literally says that?

2. I can select it by using the sl_wlanset or using which functions?

1. You can read the 802.11n specification and find out that the communication is half-duplex. The CC3235SF supports the spec.
