if a coordinator is broken, which acts as the gateway, can I use another device to replace it?

We use a coordinator as a gateway. The devices in the network will unicast the message to the coordinator(nwkadr 0x0000). If the coordinator is broken, the messages from the devices can't receive any more. I want to use another device join the network act as a coordinator or router, but it must be assigned a nwkaddr, 0x0000. Can you give me some advices. Look forward to your reply.
