Maybe it is a problem with the Smart Phone App. What App are you using?

Please see this thread regarding the removal of the TMP007 IR temperature sensor. Ambient temperature is till reported via the HDC1000:

As kel suggests, please provide app details and a screen shot of the SensorTag app .

I tried using the TI SimpleLink tool which will read the other sensors but not the Temps. I’ve also tried the Precision Altimeter from Radiant Technologies. Both cannot read the temps. I’ve seen some tread that indicates the CC2650STK changed the sensor for temps but the values should be available from other sources on the part. Is there a firmware update that must be applied for the alternate temp sensor?

Do you use prebuilt FW in BLE Stack or you build FW by yourself?

I am using what came with the part. The tag indicates BLE 1.5.1. FW REV 1.4.2 Rev. 1739.

Can you connect your CC2650STK with TI SimpleLink Starter APP on your smartphone and do some screen shots to show the issue?

I'm using the TI simple link that was recommended when I purchased the part. Neither the iPad or Android app reports the temperatutes. The other sensors appear to function fine.

A third party app reads the humidity but not the temperature.

According to Jomar’s reply in e2e.ti.com/.../659363 , I suppose the problem is that tmp007 IR temperature sensor is removed from latest CC2650STK.

The literature also states the CC2650STK reports ambient temperature using the humidity sensor. Shouldn’t the TI SimpleLink report that temp?

Yes, it should report temperature using the humidity sensor. Maybe you can use BTool or BLE device Monitor to check it.

This looks like bug of APP. If you use BTool or BLE Device Monitor, can you read ambient temperature data?

I have neither BTool or BLE Device Monitor. Are these tools only available for Windows environment? Also, are there other hardware modules required? If so, how do I request TI to provide these?

Yes, those are tools running on Windows System. You will need an extra LAUNCHXL-CC2650 to run HostTest on it to work with Btool or BLE Device Monitor to communicate to CC2650STK.

If you are receiving Humidity you should be receiving Ambient Temperature. Object/IR is not available due to the TMP007 being EOL.

Can you try pulling the battery and re-insterting? If that doesn't result in temperature being reported, then it's likely your SensorTag is defective and a replacement will be required.

The component TMP007 has unfortunately reached end of life. Therefor SensorTags with PCB revision 1.5.1 do not have the component mounted. The humidity and pressure sensors also provided temperature readings, but these are not shown in the Android and IOS apps. If you run on Windows you can use the BLE Device Monitor to display these values.

Using other tools I am able to access the temperature data on the humidity sensor. However, the SimpleLink TI application appears not to access temperature data from the humidity chip. How do I get an update of the TI SimpleLink app that reads that sensor’s temperature field? Is the SimpleLink app open sourced?
