TAS5756M: TAS5756M

Part Number: TAS5756M
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TAS3251EVM, , TAS3251

Hi Andy,

I still have some questions about the memory of the miniDsp in TAS5756.

After reviewing the TAS3251EVM evaluation sheet I have to say that this AMPLI family is excellent and allows a lot of project flexibility with exceptional sound quality. One only drawback: if it had an internal memory it would be even simpler and more immediate!

Your suggestion would be to use the TI MSP430 micro-controller component. Is this component sufficient to maintain the memory of the pre-established configuration? Or do I also need to use an XMOS, that I see in the evaluation sheet?

Back to the TIMSP430 micro-controller: the functions as per Figure 5. TAS3251EVM Schematics (2 of 6) SW-MUTE SW-VOLUP -VOL DN ... and so on, are already set up in the micro-controller or do they need programming for each installed component?

Thank you so much for your feedback on the matter.

Eugenio

  • Hi Eugenio,

First, let me clarify the answers I gave to you the other day.

I thought you were designing a new audio system based on TAS5756M. The MSP430 controller MSP430G2955 has enough flash memory to store the configurations to initialize the TAS5756M before it starts to do playback.

The XMOS you see on the TAS3251EVM acts as an I2S and I2C host. You don't have to use the XMOS in your own system if you have a DSP or application processor to provide the I2S stream (assuming that the MSP430G2955 works as an i2c host in your system).

Your last question is about the some details of TAS3251EVM. This EVM has been designed by my colleague. Could you raise this question again in a new e2e thread so that my colleague who is the expert on the TAS3251 can take care of your question.

  • Hi Andy.

I'm designing a digital crossover with 4 TAS5756 configured mono/stereo. For this reason it is necessary to maintain the applied configurations.

I will write to your colleague regarding the previous question on the TAS3251.

    Thank you,

    Eugenio
