INA3221: what's the min voltage for the VPU, whether it need to be above the VS voltage?

Part Number: INA3221

Hi team,

what's the min voltage for the  VPU, whether it need to be above the VS voltage? Thanks.

  • Hey Frank,

While it is not explicitly stated, the minimum operating VPU voltage should be 2.7V. This is only if VPU and PV pins are going to be used in the design. If the Power Valid (PV) feature of the device is not going to be used, then VPU  and PV can be left open/floating.

The VPU pin can be the same voltage as VS, if user want PV to pull-up to VS. The minimum operating value of VS is 2.7V, thus VPU can also operate at 2.7V minimum. The VPU pin does not need to be greater than VS, but if VPU voltage is greater than VS, then user may need to divide down the VPU voltage as shown in Figure 25 because the PV pin's voltage cannot exceed 6V as stated in the Absolute Maximum Ratings table in section 7.1.

    Sincerely,

    Peter Iliya
