drv2667 hazard?

I want to try out the drv2667 evaluation kit, but am curious about the potential electric shock hazard.

Does the output waveform have sufficient power capacity to pose a potential shock hazard, and if so, can you give a qualitative measure of how dangerous this is?

Does the output have short circuit protection (will shorting output leads together damage the device?)

Yes, I would recommend that the EVM only be used by those comfortable handling high-voltage.

The voltage can go as high as 205Vpp and deliver as much as 50mA. The DRV2667 has a current and thermal limit which will prevent short circuit and large continuous current, but it can still be harmful if not handled carefully.

What are you planning on using it for?

Thanks Brian,

We are interested in using it in a wearable device. The main benefit we see over an LRA for this application is a potentially slimmer form factor.

Hi Brian,

Do you have any suggestions for power isolation on the DRV2667? Also is there any documentation on the current limit in the DRV2667?

Hi Peter,

Thank you for the information. My concern is the high voltage and potentially grounding through a user. I was wondering if there was a isolation circuit I could use with this chip to isolate a short circuit potential from the rest of my board. Is there a good way to protect the user in fault situations?
