INA116 Spice model

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: INA116

Hi, I am looking for a model (or some fairly accurate model) that I could model the INA116. I would like it to be a bit more realistic than the ideal three amp model, and maybe be able to model the CMR and offsets. The website says that they have a spice model in their TINA software, but I could not find one. (They do have a part for the schematic but no spice model, the webpage lies). I only took Micro I so I don't have a complete understanding of the inner workings of an amplifier. Any Ideas?

  • There is no model for the INA116... however you can download TINA and use one of the other parts. All of TINA's spice code is located in a file under TINA/SPICE, you can open it with a text editor such as notepad++ be warned, however that pspice lite will not run some of the models because of the ammount of nodes. I would just like to say, Thanks me for answering my own post ! Also, I wish I could pester the TI engineers because they do infact have this part in a spice model, I've found references to it on some of the old burr brown documents. If any of you red shirted employees of TI are listening out there, you should find it and post it. Also, your company is officially bureaucratic. bureaucracy

  • Steven,

My apologies for not getting your question answered on your first go-around.

Unfortunately, we do not have a SPICE/TINA model available for the INA116.  Most customers choose the INA116 due to its ultra low bias current of 100fA.  The only other device that has comparable bias current is the OPA129; therefore, I have built and attached a composite INA116 out of OPA129 devices as shown in the following TINA screen capture:

If you have any other questions, please do not hesitate to ask.

P.S. Not all of us have red shirts...

  • Hi, i appreciate the help, however that model doesn't consider the guarding pins. There is anyway to simulate those pins?. Thanks in advance.
