Problems with the BiQuad Filter design tool

Hi,

We have serious problems with the BiQuad Filter design tool.

One is that if a filter’s type is set to Butterworth2, it will be reset to Butterworth1 when the tool is reopened.

The other problem is that the parameters of the coefficients are changed automatically: We only changed the first instance out of 10 BiQuads, but for all other BiQuads (All Pass) the coefficient B0 was set to 10 (!!), which will cause quite a high gain…

We have seen that there is already another post regarding this question. The answer was to use a different windows operating system. Can you specify which window versions will work correctly? We have already tried Windows XP professional SP3 with an english and german version.

Daniel,

Yes, we're aware of the Biquad filter problem regarding the filter subtype.

There're two solutions: 1) use the work around: before you close the biquad design window, save the configuration to a .xml filter, and everytime you want to change the filter design, load the .xml filter first before doing any changes.

2) use the updated Biquad component with the bug fixed. we're working on a way to distribute this component to all the customers, it may take sometime.

Regarding the second issue, I admit I've seen something similar, but it's hard to reproduce. If you close GDE and do the same thing again, it never happen again. If you could give us a reproducable senario, we could definitely look into this.

Hi Susan,

are there any updates regarding the BiQuad Filter Design Tool? We are going to provide a TAS based amplifier to our customer for tuning and it would be nice to have the fixed Biquad component.

I just checked, both installer and instrution are there, just they appear in a wrong order, please search for the ones dated Jan 25,2012.

That link was public, but since TAS3x has been NRND for couple of years now, that extranet was taken down last month, so I am afraid no more access anymore.
