TPS7A6650-Q1 Vout > Vin condition

I would like to operate with Vout > Vin condition for TPS7A6650-Q1.

There is the possibility Vout > Vin condition (Battery line is shut down) in the customer application.

In this case, there are not any problem with Vout = 5V. Is this correct?

And is the effect by the parastic diode?

Best regards,

Atsushi Yamauchi

  • Hi Yamauchi san,

May I know why would you let the TPS7A6650-Q1 operate with Vout > Vin?
Do you mean shut down the input power supply but VOUT decrease slower than VIN or force an voltage at VOUT?

For the first condition, there is no problem.
For the second, if the voltage added at VOUT <5V, device should have no problem, but potential risk may exist due to the parasitic body diode of the MOSFET.

    Best regards,
